Benjamin Morrill enlisted as a private on 9 August 1862 at the age of 21 in Company C, 35th Infantry Regiment Massachusetts. He received a disability discharge on 3 November 1862. He then reenlisted on 30 September 1863 in Company E, 8th Infantry Regiment New Hampshire, mustering out on 28 October 1865. [6]
