Henry Morrill of Salisbury was a Captain in Col. Caleb Cushing's regiment, which marched April 20, 1775 in response to the alarm of April 19. By 1776, he was Lieutenant Colonel, Col. Timothy Pickering's regiment, and later under col. Jacob Gerrish's regiment. He was on a muster roll of field and staff officers at Winter Hill, January 22, 1778. [6]

The death notice of Ezekiel Morrill reads as follows: "Died on his passage from Hispaniola to Philadelphia. Capt. Ezekiel Morrill of Amesbury. His reputation for every social virtue is so well established among Friends, that it needs no newspaper panegyrick. He was a good citizen, an honest man, and ever distinguished in the line of the militia as a brave officer and good soldier." [11]
