He graduated with honors from Amherst College in 1874. He was subsequently a collector for the New York Custom House, and later a broker in Bridgeport, Connecticut. [4]

Julius Morrill of St. Johnsbury enlisted as a Private on 31 August 1863 in Company A, 1st Heavy Artillery Regiment Vermont. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. He was discharged on 2 February 1865. [5]
